The Supervisor
is the chief executive officer of the township, treasurer of all
township funds, chairman of the board of trustees and a voting
member of the board of trustees.
The Township Supervisor is also the supervisor of general
assistance.
General Assistance
General
Assistance is available to those in need who are not eligible for
other state or federal assistance and do not have an income or
financial resources to provide for their own needs.
Application
Each person
will be asked to complete an application and provide the necessary
forms before assistance can be rendered. You may be assisted by
someone else in completing the necessary forms. You must complete
the application in person and have proper ID.
Residency
You must be a
resident of the state of Illinois and live in Bremen Township. To be
eligible for General Assistance each person must be a citizen of the
United States or an alien who meets the legal requirements.
Financial
Requirements
All available
income from all family members shall be included. Cash; dividends;
wages; retirement and pension benefits; state or federal tax
refunds; interest; loans; contributions; gifts; cash assets; Social
Security benefits and support from responsible relatives.
Emergency
Assistance
In an
emergency, Bremen Township will provide assistance to those persons
who face emergencies such as fire in their home or were injured on
the job and are not yet receiving workmen’s compensation.
In these types of emergencies, Bremen Township will provide a
one-time financial grant to cover such needs as food and overnight
accommodations

Bremen Youth Services is a not-for-profit agency, which has served the community for the past 35 years. Services offered are counseling for youth, families, groups and individuals. The program is designed for youth living in Bremen Township and surrounding areas. The age criteria are 8 - 18. Fees for services are based on the family’s ability to pay.
SENIOR COMPANION
PROGRAM

Senior Companions are healthy older adults who help other adults live independently. Senior Companions provide support to family caregivers. They assist with grocery shopping and other daily tasks to maintain independence. Without the help of Senior Companions, many older adults would not be able to continue living in their home.
Call for information if you need a Senior Companion or if you would like to be someone’s Senior Companion.

Produce Mobile

The Produce Mobile comes to Bremen Township on the second Friday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to Noon. The Produce Mobile is a program of the Greater Chicago Food Depository and is sponsored by Hope Community Services and Bremen Township. There are no income or age guidelines to participate in this program.

The Township Clerk is the clerk for the township board. The clerk is the keeper of all township records and records minutes of all township meetings. Voter’s Registration, Cook County Vehicle Stickers, Election Supplies, Pace ADA Passes and FREE Notary Services are all available from the clerk’s office.

The Township Assessor assistance with homeowner’s exemptions, senior exemptions, senior freeze applications, disability exemptions and veteran exemptions. Assist with filing certificates of error, filing appeals of assessed valuation and Board of Review. Process name and address changes on tax bills. Process building permits. Issue temporary Handicap Placards Process applications for Senior RTA passes.
Highway Commissioner

The Township Highway Department has jurisdiction over the unincorporated Roads in the township. In addition to maintenance, repair and plowing snow they erect and maintain all traffic signs, issue driveway permits, trim and remove trees in the township right of ways. Bremen Township is working with Cook County Highway Department, County Commissioners and the Water Reclamation Department for a solution to rain water management in the unincorporated areas.

SENIOR WHEELS
Transportation is offered to Bremen Township Residents 55 years and older. Senior Wheels will pick you up and take you to the doctor, grocery store, bank, beauty shop or to visit a friend. We stay inside Bremen Township boundaries for non-medical trips and we travel outside the Township for medical appointments only. Our service is available Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The fee is $2.00 each way or you can purchase a 10 ride ticket from your driver for $16.00. We recommend you call for your ride at least one week before your appointment.
SENIOR DROP IN CENTER
The Drop in Center is open every Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. - Join us for cake, coffee, bingo, monthly luncheons and friendship.
SHOPPING BUS
The shopping bus goes to Orland, Chicago Ridge and Joliet Mall. The bus is free but you need to sign up in advance due to limited space on each bus. Call for dates and pick up points.
BUNCO & CARDS
The Township Senior Center is open on Thursdays From 12:00 Noon to 4:00 p.m. to play Bunco & cards. We have the tables, cards and dice, bring a friend or make a new one and join us for cards and socializing.
MOVIE DAYS
This is a great opportunity to see a newly released movie and make some new friends. Pre–registration required. Call for dates and time.
